Tzedakah Project

Instructor Katie Forsythe, and her second grade class at Beth Tikvah Congregation, decided to choose Strays Halfway House as their tzedakah project this year.  Tzedakah is a Hebrew word commonly translated as charity and in Judaism it refers to the religious obligation to perform charity acts which Judaism emphasizes are important parts of living a spiritual life.  Peggy Aaland met with these young children on May 10th, talked about their personal pets, about Strays HH, and what people of all ages should do to be responsible pet owners.  The children were all sent home with important information to give to their parents and then SHH was presented with bags and bags of kitten and cat dry food, wet food, litter, litter scoopers, cat food dishes, toys and also a monetary donation.  The foster kittens and cats, would like to thank this wonderful group of youngsters for their act of kindness.
